Thuya Wood Hexagon Box. The Thuya tree is a Coniferous mountain Cyprus tree indigenous to the Western Atlas mountains of North Africa; its burl is a dense wood with a high oil content. The Greeks named it "Thuya" meaning sacrifice, because they used an oil distilled from it as incense in their religious ceremonies. This Thuya wood box was hand made by a local craftsman in a small coastal town called Essaouira in Morocco. It is finished with hand rubbed shellac. Approximately 2" H x 2 1/2" D x 2 1/2" W in size.
